Hatchet Job of the Day
Chris Tookey in The Daily Mail was full of praise – without a hint of irony – for the remake of 1980′s classic Fame which hits cinemas this week:
Naturi Naughton shows off a tremendous voice as ‘Black Girl With Overbearing Father Who Demands She Become A Classical Pianist When Really She Wants To Sing’.
Kherington Payne also makes an impression as ‘Extremely Pretty Blonde Dancer Who Keeps Pushing Her Crotch Towards Camera’. It’s too bad the script doesn’t bother to give her a personality.
And I admired the triumphant dance finale, even though puzzlingly it features some extremely grown-up dancers whom I didn’t notice anywhere else in the movie.
