The Times’ Kevin Maher thought Nick Moran’s second feature The Kid (starring Natasha Elhorne and Rupert Friend) hit a dud note:

Ultimately the entire film is a compendium of false notes, with Moran directing sequence after sequence of epic musical montages, as if he was putting together the Croydon version of Goodfellas, when in fact the story required something much more intimate and personal.
