The Literary Review’s Bad Sex Award goes to…
30/11/2010
Amateur entomologists were well served last night when the Irish author Rowan Somerville pipped Alastair Campbell to the post to win the Literary Review’s Bad Sex Award. His purple prose included such gems as:
Like a lepidopterist mounting a tough-skinned insect with a too blunt pin he screwed himself into her.
On being presented with the award by Michael Winner, Somerville gushed “What an honour to share a list with Jonathan Franzen and Christos Tsiolkas. There is nothing more English than bad sex, so on behalf of the entire nation I would like to thank you.“
Blush over the rest of the nominees here.
